Thank you for your interest in my background.
On a brief personal level, I’ve been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Larry Arcement, for 34 years, and counting. Together, we have one wonderful son, who is married to our beautiful daughter-in-law. When I’m not working, I enjoy gardening, shopping, maintaining my home, pool and patio, and playing with my adorable “grandpup,” a feisty, little, Jack Russell Terrier, whose name is Brody!
Professionally speaking, immediately upon graduating from high school, and after simultaneously completing nighttime courses at Delgado Community College, in New Orleans, I began working as a freelance Louisiana certified court reporter. After a 12 year career in court reporting, I decided I wanted to change my profession and chose to enter into the world of real estate. After successfully completing the required schooling at First Professional Real Estate School, in Metairie, Louisiana, under the direction of Dr. Roy L. Ponthier, Jr., Ph.D., and successfully passing the applicable state mandated written examinations, I obtained my real estate agent’s license, from the State of Louisiana, in 1998.
Between 1998 and 2000, I worked as a licensed real estate agent for Prudential Louisiana Properties, in Chalmette, Louisiana, where I assisted both buyers and sellers. In the year 2000, I returned to First Professional Real Estate School, to receive the additional education required to obtain my broker’s license. After successfully passing additional state mandated written examinations, I became a Louisiana licensed real estate broker, in that same year, at the age of 35.
In February, 2000, I opened my own real estate sales office, Arcement Realty, LLC, in my Louisiana hometown of St. Bernard Parish. In addition to working as a full-time listing and selling agent, I was also the managing/sponsoring broker of ten other licensed real estate agents, plus managed a receptionist and personal assistant. Under my direction and ownership, and because of the hard work and dedication of “The A-Team,” as the agents and staff of my office were so affectionately called, Arcement Realty, LLC, quickly excelled and became one of the top producing real estate sales agencies in all of St. Bernard Parish.
Arcement Realty’s popular website address was “SellingStBernard.com,” and we were literally doing just that, selling St. Bernard, on a very competitive, non-stop basis, up until the fateful date of August 29, 2005. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck, and totally flooded and devastated St. Bernard Parish. Along with flooding my personal home, and the homes of my family and friends, Hurricane Katrina also flooded the homes of all of my clients, as well as my commercial real estate office building. Just like that, in the blink of “Katrina’s eye,” my entire personal and professional lives were turned upside down!
With the entire real estate market in St. Bernard Parish being totally devastated and flooded, I was forced to make the tough decision to relocate. My husband and I chose to relocate to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, in St. Martin Parish. We purchased a home in Breaux Bridge in December, 2005, and began to rebuild our lives.
Between August, 2005, and June, 2017, I assisted my husband with his business, in addition to representing family and friends in various real estate transactions, on a limited basis. In June of 2017, I decided to place my broker’s license with Coldwell Banker Pelican Real Estate, in Lafayette, Louisiana, where I am now practicing as an Associate Broker, assisting buyers and sellers, all throughout the Acadiana area and beyond.
Along with having the title of Associate Broker, I currently hold the prestigious “Realtor” designation, and enjoy being a member of the following professional Realtor associations:
Realtor Association of Acadiana
Louisiana Realtors Association
National Association of Realtors
